Thanks to the good people at Hormel Foods, we had quite the spread at our annual Toastmaster's Holiday Party. Alright, alright. Time for full disclosure here. In an effort to increase the perceived sense of transparency on this blog, i must admit that Hormel Foods is in no way, shape or form affiliated with Toastmasters of Lincoln Park or our party last night. In fact, our preferred corporate food manufacturer is Kraft Foods.

Well, now that we got that out of the way, i am happy to report that the holiday party was a smashing success, if not a bit early. Some of you may be wondering, "A holiday party on the 30th of November? What holiday were you celebrating?" The answer to that is quite simple. For you see, yesterday was the 132nd birthday of Sir Winston Churchill. Most of those in attendance last night were probably unaware of this fact, and it didn't matter, a good time was had by all.

Kudos to our Party Czar, Adam MacMillan, for arranging the festivities. Ever the thoughtful toastmaster, Adam found a bar a mere three blocks from his house. What a guy. Perhaps the best news of the night was that the whole party came within budget.

In conclusion, the evening was a celebration of friends, both new and old, partaking in something we all hold dear: the art of conversation. It has been a great year of us as a club and i, for one, am looking forward to the promise of the new year.

But before 2007 arrives, we have one more meeting: December 7th, "A date which will live in infamy." It will be the last proper meeting of 2006 and i'm sure it will be a great one. Hope to see you all then.

That is all.
